Trump described the installation of the towering flagpoles as a personal contribution. “It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place,” he wrote on Truth Social. The moment was meant to celebrate patriotism and national pride, yet the viral nap managed to steal the spotlight.

He jokingly asked, “Any illegal immigrants?” prompting laughter and head shakes from the workers.

“Your whole life will be destroyed because of this press conference. They’ll destroy these people. I didn’t want to tell them that before they stood up,” Trump said, adding reassuringly, “Don’t worry, I think you’re gonna be OK.”

While Trump's remarks stirred some controversy, the internet largely remained focused on the crane operator’s nap. The scene became symbolic of indifference to political theatrics, with many calling it the most relatable moment of the event. “If indifference had a face, this would be it,” one commenter wrote.
