As tensions rise following India’s Operation Sindoor, key countries have begun taking positions, with Turkey and Azerbaijan voicing support for Pakistan, while Qatar has called for de-escalation and diplomacy. Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly worded statement expressing concern over India’s airstrike on May 6. Shared on platform X, the statement read, “We are following the developments between Pakistan and India with concern. The attack carried out by India last night raises the risk of an all-out war.”

The ministry went on to condemn “provocative steps” and attacks “targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.” It urged both sides to “exercise common sense and refrain from unilateral actions” that could worsen the situation.

Turkey emphasised the need for immediate tension-reduction measures and proposed establishing new mechanisms, including counter-terrorism collaboration, to prevent future incidents. Turkey also backed Pakistan’s demand for an independent investigation into the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Azerbaijan Stands In Solidarity With Pakistan

Soon after the operation, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement condemning the violence and expressing concern over escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

“The Republic of Azerbaijan expresses its concern over the further escalation of tension,” the statement read. “We condemn military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Pakistan that killed and injured several civilians.” Showing solidarity, Baku extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The message reinforced Azerbaijan's close diplomatic and strategic ties with Pakistan.

Qatar Appeals For Calm And Dialogue

In a statement released on X, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said, “The State of Qatar is following with deep concern the continued escalation… and urges both countries to exercise maximum restraint.”

Qatar emphasised principles of “good neighbourliness” and encouraged India and Pakistan to resolve their differences through peaceful and diplomatic means. The Gulf nation’s approach aligns with its broader foreign policy of promoting dialogue and stability in the region.

Operation Sindoor

At a press briefing in New Delhi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that Operation Sindoor was “launched to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.” She added that nine terror camps were targeted and successfully neutralised with precision to avoid civilian casualties. The Indian Foreign Secretary later remarked that the Pahalgam attack was aimed at derailing peace efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, further justifying the military response.
