United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak encountered an awkward moment while he was hosting his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte as both leaders were locked out at his 10 Downing Street residence in London on December 8. The video of the incident surfaced on social media.

Rishi Sunak met his Dutch counterpart to discuss 'the scourge of illegal migration' and the UK's Rwanda policy. In the viral video, both Sunak and Rutte can be seen talking to each other as they face some error in the residence and wait for the custodian to open the door.

The British PM was seen placing his hands on the door as both leaders were unable to access Number 10, leaving them confused. Eventually, the door opened from the inside while the media continued to capture them.

Following the announcement of four-time Dutch Prime Minister that he was quitting politics, Rishi Sunak and Mark Rutte had their last diplomatic meeting at 10 Downing Street.

Following a dispute over immigration earlier this year, Mark Rutte's coalition government collapsed and last month, Geert Wilders won the Dutch general election.

“The leaders discussed a range of geopolitical issues, including the situation in the Middle East. They expressed regret at the breakdown of the pause in fighting to release hostages and agreed that it was vital that more aid was able to get into Gaza, including by exploring new routes. They also agreed on the critical importance of preventing regional escalation and a unified effort to prevent attempts to threaten maritime security,” a 10 Downing Street spokesperson said.

The spokesperson reportedly said that Rishi Sunak reflected on his recent conversations with President Zelensky, emphasizing the unwavering commitment to aiding Ukrainian allies during the upcoming winter and beyond.
