Republican Candidate Donald Trump addressed his supporters at the Florida Convention Centre in Palm Beach as he inches closer to the victory in US presidential race. Talking about the feat he tends to achieve amid vote counting in the US, Trump called his forthcoming win ‘the greatest political movement of all time’.
He also highlighted the struggles he faced, while declaring Republican’s victory.
“This was a movement like nobody's ever seen before, and frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” Trump said.
Reiterating his promises made during the poll campaign, Trump said the United States was a country that needs help and he has a lot to fix. “We are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help...We are going to fix our borders, fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight. It is now clear that we have achieved the most incredible political win,” he said.
Addressing her as the first lady, Trump thanked his wife Melania Trump and his children for their support and public service.
Besides, the US president-elect congratulated his running mate JD Vance, who is slated to be the next vice president.
Recalling the horrific incident of dodging an assassination attempt, Trump said his life was ‘saved for a reason’. He said his motto as the US President will be "Promises made, promises kept." He also vowed to end wars, which are currently ongoing around the world.
Trump hailed businessman Elon Musk as a ‘new star’, asserting that he was a wonderful person and such talent must be preserved.
Donald Trump’s Republican Party has so far secured win in 27 states, amassing 266 electoral votes. Her rival Kamala Harris has registered victory in 19 states, with 2019 electoral votes. A candidate needs 270 of 538 electoral votes to win the presidency.
