Russia-Ukraine War: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday said the United States gave a deadline to reach an agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war, the largest since World War-2. The United States wants Russia and Ukraine to find a solution on how to end the war before summer (June), Zelenskyy added.

No Breakthrough In Abu Dhabi Trilateral Talks

He further informed reporters that the US had proposed a new round of talks between Kyiv and Moscow to take place in Miami in a week and that Kyiv had agreed to that. In trilateral talks, the US led a negotiation dialogue between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi this week, but it concluded without a major breakthrough.

Ukrainian Air Force Needs To Improve: Zelenskyy

On the otherside at the war front, Ukraine faced several blows in the last couple of days, giving an advantage to Russia. Speaking on the current situation, Zelenskyy on Friday described the performance of the air force in parts of the country as "unsatisfactory". He further asserted that steps are being taken to improve the response to large-scale Russian drone barrages of civilian areas.

The repeated Russian aerial assaults have in recent months focused on Ukraine's power grid, causing blackouts and disrupting the heating and water supply for families during a bitterly cold winter.

Russia's Aggression Continues Amid Severe Freezing Temperature

Russia has been carried out a major overnight attack on Ukraine targeting energy infrastructure amid US-led attempts for peace. The bombardment included hundreds of drones and a record 32 ballistic missiles, wounding at least 10 people. It specifically took aim at the power grid, Zelenskyy said, as part of what Ukraine says is Moscow's ongoing campaign to deny civilians light, heating and running water during the coldest winter in years.

"Taking advantage of the coldest days of winter to terrorise people is more important to Russia than diplomacy," Zelenskyy said. Temperatures in Kyiv fell to minus 20 degrees Celsius during the night and stood at minus 16 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

With the war about to enter its fifth year later this month following Russia's all-out invasion of its neighbour, there is no sign of a breakthrough in US-led peace efforts following the latest talks this week.
