US-Iran Peace Deal: Amid the reports suggesting a peace deal between the US and Iran to be signed soon, the hardliners in Tehran staged a protest on Saturday to oppose the proposal. The protestors reportedly raised slogans against Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. As per the hardliners, the interests of Iran will be compromised in the deal proposed by the Trump administration. The protestors gathered outside the foreign ministry after Araghchi discussed the proposed agreement during an interview.
The hardliners raised radical slogans, including "Death to Araghchi, the dishonourable compromiser," "Araghchi, have shame, stop giving in," and "Death to dishonourable Araghchi, the infiltrator," reported AFP. The protestors also reportedly asked the senior office bearers to step down instead of agreeing to these proposals. They criticised Araghchi for making too many concessions in order to secure an agreement with the Trump administration.

Earlier in a post on the Truth Social, US President Donald Trump claimed that the deal is expected to be signed on Sunday, following which the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to all immediately. "The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all," the US president said. Trump asserted that the agreement is designed to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons through any means.
However, the Iranian foreign ministry had earlier stated that a signing on Sunday was not confirmed. The officials said that a settlement may soon be reached and that a signing in the coming days should not be excluded. Earlier on Friday, Araghchi urged the media to avoid speculating about the contents of the agreement, stating that details of the agreement would be made public once the process reaches its conclusion.
