A small Hawker Beechcraft BE-36 single-engine aircraft executed a forced landing on a busy road in Georgia, USA, after losing power on Monday afternoon.

Local authorities reported that the plane touched down at the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway after the pilot reported engine failure around 12:10 pm during a short flight north of Atlanta.

Incident Details

According to Fox Business, the flight originated from Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville and was headed toward Cherokee County Regional Airport. Shortly after departure, the two pilots onboard noticed mechanical issues involving the engine's RPM and attempted to turn back to the airport.

However, the aircraft lacked the necessary power to reach the runway, compelling the crew to land on the public roadway.

Collision And Damage

A video circulating on social media captures the moment the plane descended onto the crowded street and collided with several vehicles. Police confirmed the following:

The aircraft's right wing struck a vehicle during the landing sequence.

The impact caused the plane's fuel tank to dislodge and lodge into the rear of an SUV.

Several individuals sustained minor injuries during the event, police told FOX Business.

Official Investigation

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that the pilot opted for an emergency landing on the street once it became clear the aircraft could not sustain flight back to the airfield. Following the crash, authorities closed the road to clear the wreckage, warning residents of significant traffic delays.
