A viral video appearing to show US President Donald Trump dozing off during a marathon Cabinet meeting has ignited a wave of online scrutiny and political jabs, drawing a swift response from the White House. The 2-hour, 18-minute meeting, held at the White House, featured lengthy briefings from senior officials, but one short clip overshadowed the entire event.
In the viral video, Trump is seen with his eyes closed for several seconds. He shifts in his seat, appearing sluggish, leading to widespread speculation that he may have fallen asleep. The clip spread rapidly across social media, especially given Trump’s long history of mocking his predecessor Joe Biden as “Sleepy Joe.”
Trump allies insisted the president was simply “thinking with his eyes closed,” but critics seized on the moment, calling it symbolic and ironic.

White House Cites ‘Perfect’ MRI Results
Facing mounting questions about the president’s stamina and cognitive sharpness, the White House moved quickly to tamp down speculation. Officials released a medical summary from Trump’s recent MRI scan, which his physician described as “perfect.”

The preventive scan, conducted on December 1 as part of a routine executive physical, showed no arterial narrowing, blockages, or abnormalities. According to the Associated Press, the imaging was standard practice given the president’s age and workload.
Newsweek reported that Trump recently passed a cognitive test, with the president telling aides he feels “sharper than ever.” The administration framed the disclosures as part of its commitment to transparency and “responsible diligence.”
Gavin Newsom Mocks MRI With Spoof Health Report
While the White House emphasised positive medical results, California Governor Gavin Newsom added fuel to the online frenzy. Posting on X, Newsom shared a satirical health memo attributed to “Dr. Dolittle,” his fictional “Chief of Peak Human Performance.”
The spoof note claimed that Newsom’s own imaging showed “nothing merely normal” and jokingly cited “unusually active regions associated with intelligence, multitasking, and being wildly productive before sunrise.”
The memo then launched a direct jab at Trump, referencing the White House medical letter: “While we do not typically comment on the health of other elected officials, we are aware of a letter released today claiming that President Trump is in ‘excellent health.’”
