Iran has finally revealed the main points of its latest peace proposal to the United States amid ongoing efforts to end tensions in the Middle East. The proposal comes after Tehran responded to a new US offer, while US President Donald Trump said there is now a “very good chance” of reaching a deal with Iran.
What Are Iran's Demands?
According to a Reuters report, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the proposal focuses on stopping military action across the region and reducing pressure on Iran. Tehran said the plan also includes demands related to relief from sanctions and security guarantees.
The latest Iranian peace proposal includes:
Ending hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Withdrawal of US forces from areas near Iran.
Reparations for damage caused during the US-Israeli war.
Removal of US sanctions on Iran.
Release of Iranian funds frozen in foreign banks.
Ending the US naval blockade around Iran.
Allowing Iran to continue peaceful nuclear activities under supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The proposal appears similar to an earlier Iranian offer that Trump had dismissed last week as “garbage.” However, Trump later said he paused plans for renewed attacks after receiving Tehran’s latest response and expressed hope that an agreement could still be reached.
Pakistan's Role
Multiple reports also suggest that Pakistan has been acting as a mediator between the two sides and shared Iran’s proposal with Washington. A Pakistani source said both countries continue to change their demands, warning that “there is not much time” left for negotiations, Reuters added in its report. However, US officials have not publicly confirmed any of these claims.
Trump Pauses Attack Against Iran
Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he is delaying the planned military strikes against Iran that were expected on Tuesday. Trump said the decision was taken after requests from Gulf leaders, including the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that “serious negotiations” are currently taking place. He expressed hope that a major agreement acceptable to the US and other countries could soon be reached. He also repeated that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
