Flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have continued to operate despite widespread airspace restrictions amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. These flights are using designated safe air corridors. The UAE airspace was partially and temporarily closed around March 1-2, but airlines have now resumed their operations.

The safe air corridors allow aircraft to pass through sections of airspace that are considered secure for limited flight operations. The corridor is carefully monitored to provide a smooth passage. The decision to activate corridor system across the Gulf was taken following a decision by regional aviation authorities to maintain essential connectivity while prioritizing passenger safety.

In a press conference, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, announced the opening of emergency safe air corridors. The decision has been taken following talks with neighbouring countries. “The capacity as of today, based on the emergency routes available, is 48 flights per hour with a possibility of increasing this figure at a later stage, according to the latest development and security ratings and measures,” Marri said.

What Are Safe Air Corridors?

Safe air corridors are designated, secure flight paths established in controlled airspace. They allow essential air travel during regional conflicts, airspace closures, or high-risk situations. These corridors are tightly controlled routes and aircraft flying through them follow strict routing instructions.

The flights operate at designated altitudes to help air traffic controllers monitor each movement. By routing aircraft through these controlled pathways, airlines can avoid high-risk zones while ensuring that international travel and cargo routes remain operational.

UAE To India Flights Resume

As the regional airspace operates partially, Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia have announced their schedule. This includes flights from Dubai to India as well. About 27 flights are arriving at different airports in India from Dubai on Wednesday.
