2026 Yamaha R7: Yamaha has revealed the updated iteration of its middleweight YZF-R7 sportbike. Showcased at EICMA 2025, the 2026 R7 gets subtle design changes, a reworked chassis, and electronic upgrades, among other things. Having said that, the 689cc, liquid-cooled, inline-twin CP2 engine, which produces 72bhp at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm, remains the same, although the bike benefits from the brand's third-generation Quick Shift System.
2026 Yamaha R7: Electronics
Apart from the advanced quickshifter, Yamaha has equipped the R7 with a 6-axis IMU. Borrowed from the YZF-R1, the 6-axis IMU oversees traction control, slide control, brake control, wheelie control, engine braking management, and launch control. Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) allows riders to adjust power delivery and intervention levels. Three ride modes (Sport, Street, and Rain) are also available, along with two customisable modes and four track modes.
2026 Yamaha R7: Hardware
Alongside, the brand has revised the steel tubular frame and swingarm for increased rigidity. With now lighter spin-forged wheels with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres, the Yamaha R7 is lighter and easier to handle at both low and high speeds.

2026 Yamaha R7: Design, Display
Design-wise, the updated Yamaha R7 features a tweaked front fascia with mirror-mounted LED turn indicators. Yamaha offers the 2026 version in four colour options: Team Yamaha Blue, Raven, Breaker Cyan/Raven, and 70th Anniversary Edition. Rather than an LCD console, the 2026 R7 comes with a new 5.0-inch TFT dash with smartphone connectivity.
2026 Yamaha R7: Will India Get it?
While Yamaha has been planning on launching big bikes (two- and three-cylinder ones) in India, there is no official confirmation on the exact lineup of bikes. Having said that, market reports suggest that the Yamaha R7 could be brought to the domestic market by late 2025 or early 2026.
