Bajaj Auto is set to update its Dominar 400 to a more premium segment with an all-new platform for the next-generation model. This move follows the recent launch of the Pulsar NS400Z, which is an affordable model in the 400cc performance segment. The Pulsar NS400Z, priced lower than other bikes in the 350-400cc range, including the Dominar 400, is changing Bajaj’s market dynamics.

According to an Autocar report, at the launch of the Pulsar NS400Z, Rakesh Sharma, Bajaj Auto’s Executive Director, discussed the future plans for the Dominar 400. He stated that while the Dominar series would reach new levels of excellence, it might also become less accessible to a wider audience. Details about the upcoming Dominar 400 are limited. It is expected that the next-generation model will feature significant upgrades and innovations, not based on any existing Bajaj platforms. On the other hand, the Pulsar range would cater to those seeking performance at a more affordable price.

Originally, the Dominar 400 was launched to compete with Royal Enfield. However, Bajaj has since repositioned the Dominar as a touring motorcycle, adding features to enhance long-distance riding. Despite this shift, Bajaj’s new collaboration with Triumph, especially with the Triumph 400 models, is now their main strategy to compete against Royal Enfield.

Bajaj’s strategy of refining the Dominar for the premium market while offering the Pulsar NS400Z as a more accessible option reflects a balanced approach, catering to both ends of the performance motorcycle market. This strategy not only broadens their market appeal but also strengthens their position in the competitive 400cc segment.
