Delhi Air Pollution:  The air quality in Delhi has turned ‘Severe’ as the Air Quality Index (AQI) has crossed the 400 mark. The increasing pollution in the national capital has presented a new challenge to the daily commuters. If you are living in a place with a higher AQI and want to save yourself from the air pollution, this one is for you. Here we are listing 5 tips that can save you from air pollution while travelling in a car.

Tip No. 1: Close The Windows

If you are someone who loves the fresh air and often travels with car windows rolled down, this tip is for you. Currently, the air contains high amounts of dust particles such as the PM 2.5 and PM10. As soon as the window of the car is rolled down, the polluted air enters the cabin with these particles, and keeping your windows closed while driving can help contain your exposure to the polluted air.

Tip No. 2: Change The AC Mode

The AC systems of the cars have a recirculation mode; turn this on. There will be an image or sign of a car with an arrow inside. You can find this sign on the HVAC panel or inside the control panel (if your car’s HVAC controls are integrated inside the touchscreen). The recirculation mode uses the air inside the cabin and stops the outside air from entering the cabin.

Tip No. 3: Aftermarket Air Purifier

These filters provide enhanced protection from polluted air by removing microdust particles, along with the toxic gases.

Tip No. 4: Check The AQI Of The Route

You can check the AQI of your destination along with the AQI of your route. If the AQI of a particular area on your route is high, try to change your route or don’t travel to that particular area. Similarly, if your destination has a higher AQI, avoid travelling without a significant cause.
