New-Gen BMW M5 - Design
In terms of appearance, the new M5 appears to have a classic BMW front design, appealing to a more traditional segment of BMW's customers. These buyers prefer a more conventional look and might appreciate the new M5's robust design. According to a BMW insider on the Bimmerpost forums, the new M5 is expected to weigh 2,435 kilograms, which is significantly heavier than the previous M5 and even the 2024 540i xDrive. However, these numbers are yet to be confirmed as they exceed the weight of BMW’s electric i5 M60.
Recent spy shots reveal more details about the BMW M5's design. The car features a more defined body and aerodynamic enhancements, including larger openings in the front bumper, a proportionate illuminated kidney grille and modern BMW headlights. The doors have flush handles and the car has gold calipers for the carbon ceramic brakes, a standard feature for all M models. The rear of the car boasts a quad exhaust system integrated into a chunky diffuser.

New-Gen BMW M5 - Hybrid Powertrain
Coming to its powertrain, the new BMW M5 will borrow the hybrid powertrain from the BMW XM. It is expected to be equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine with an electric motor to produce a combined power output of 718 bhp and 1,030 Nm of torque. This is a substantial increase from the previous M5, which had 600 bhp and 749 Nm of torque. To handle the increased power, the M5 will have a staggered wheel and tyre setup, with 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels.
