Park The Car With Good Battery Close
To jump-start a car with a dead battery, you'll need another car with a good battery. Park the second car facing the dead car, positioning them close enough so the batteries are near each other while also being careful not to let the cars touch.
Locate Their Batteries & Terminals
Most cars have their batteries where the engine is placed but some may have them in unusual or hard-to-reach places. Therefore, the first thing to do is to locate the battery and its terminals. The terminals are marked with + (positive) and - (negative) signs, often with red and black wires attached, respectively.
Connect Jumper Cables
Next step is to connect the jumper cables but before that ensure the car with the good battery is turned off. Connect the red cable to the dead battery's positive terminal and connect the other red clamp to the good battery's positive terminal. Then, connect the black cable to the negative terminal of the car with the good battery and the remaining black clamp to bare metal under the dead car's hood. Ensure clamps do not touch.
Start The Engine Of The Good Car
Moving on, turn on the ignition of the good car and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. Now, try starting the car with the dead battery. If it doesn't start, turn the key off and let the good car idle for 10-15 minutes more before trying again. If it still doesn't start, the battery may need to be replaced or there could be an issue with the alternator.

Disconnect The Jumper Cables
If the jump-start is successful and your car starts, leave it running to let the engine charge the battery. Carefully disconnect the jumper cables: start by removing the negative clamp from the bare metal connection, then remove the red clamp from the positive terminal, ensuring the clamps don't touch. Place them on the ground with the clamps separated. Finally, remove the red clamp from the good battery and then the black one.
