Car Sales October 2025: October 2025 was a 'landmark month' for India's auto retail sector, as the automobile industry witnessed overall retail sales increase 40.5 per cent year-over-year (YoY) to a record high of more than 40 lakh units (FADA data). This is thanks to the GST reforms, festive excitement, and improved rural sentiment. While Maruti Suzuki reclaimed the top spot, the Tata Nexon once again emerged as the best-selling car in October. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki's newest mid-size SUV, the Victoris, outpaced the Grand Vitara, registering 13,496 units against its platform sibling's 10,409 units.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Here's Why it Fared Better in Sales?
Maruti Suzuki launched the Victoris in September 2025 with the same platform and powertrain options as the Grand Vitara. Having said that, the brand introduced the Victoris as the new flagship model for its Arena chain of showrooms, while also giving the SUV an all-new design, both on the inside and outside. The Grand Vitara, on the other hand, is available through the brand's Nexa outlets, which retail only premium models in India. This reflects how Maruti Suzuki's separate dealership strategy has helped influence consumer behaviour and buying decisions, resulting in more volumes for the Victoris, while also underscoring the brand's increased presence in the mid-size SUV segment.

The prices of the Grand Vitara start from Rs 10.77 lakh and go up to Rs 19.72 lakh, while the Victoris ranges between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom. Apart from the Grand Vitara, the Victoris SUV outsold rivals like the Kia Seltos (7,130 units) and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder (11,555 units) during the same period.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Powertrain, Mileage
Built on the same platform as the Grand Vitara, the Victoris is offered with the same mild hybrid, strong hybrid, and CNG powertrain options. However, the Victoris delivers higher fuel efficiency, at 28.65km/l for the strong-hybrid e-CVT. For the same setup, the Vitara returns 27.97km/l.
