French automaker Citroen, is gearing up to introduce its third SUV in India, after the C5 Aircross and C3 Aircross. The concept of this SUV was teased earlier this year, named the Citroen Basalt SUV. It has been spotted numerous times undergoing testing on Indian roads. The latest spy shots, taken in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, captured the Basalt SUV without any camouflage. The Basalt SUV is expected to make its debut in India in the second half of this year.

Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV - Design 

These images of the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV are believed to be of the entry-level variant, providing a clear look at the exterior design. The recent spy shots unveil the rear and side profiles of the Citroen Basalt SUV. These images showcase its coupe-style design with a sloping roofline that seamlessly merges with the boot. The SUV features large wheel arches, black highlights around the windows from the A pillar to the C pillar, black ORVMs, black rear bumpers and wrap-around tail lights. While the test mule is equipped with non-alloy wheels, it's anticipated that the SUV will offer a choice of 15-inch or 16-inch alloy wheels upon launch. 

Previous spy shots have already provided a glimpse of the front design, which is largely based on the Basalt Vision Concept. It is expected to get LED projector headlights with DRLs, body-colored bumpers with fog lamps and a slim grille adorned with the Citroen logo. 

Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV - Interior and Features 

In terms of features, the Citroen Basalt SUV is likely to boast a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, and ventilated seats. Safety features such as six airbags, ISOFIX points, and seat belt reminders are expected to be standard across all variants.

Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV - Powertrain 

While specific details about the powertrain are yet to be revealed, Citroen is expected to equip the Basalt SUV with its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, similar to the one offered in the C3 Aircross SUV. This engine may be paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission that produces a power output of 109 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque. 

Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV - Expected Price 

Post its launch, the Citroen Basalt SUV is anticipated to compete with the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV, with an expected starting price of around Fs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
