The upcoming facelift models of the Tata Safari and Harrier will use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged Hyperion engine. The engine uses an aluminium block, and it also features high-pressure gasoline direct injection. The use of an aluminium block in the engine results in reduced weight, and it also features a water-cooled variable geometry turbocharger. The engine is expected to generate a peak power and torque output of 168 bhp and 280 Nm, respectively.

More Refinement, Higher Competition

The brand has been working for a long time on the upcoming facelift variants of the Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier, and the previous facelift models of both of these SUVs were launched in October 2025. The petrol-powered Tata Safari and Tata Harrier will cater to buyers looking for a more refined and softer engine sound. While the upcoming petrol engine will be a significant upgrade for both of these SUVs, it will also heat the market, as both of these SUVs will now directly compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV 700.
