GST 2.0:  The Indian government announced a reduction in GST rates on September 4, 2025. New GST Rates came into effect from September 22, 2025, and the affordability of cars changed in the country. Do you know which is the most affordable car in India now? From Maruti S-Presso to Tata Altroz, here are the top 5 most affordable cars in the country.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki, the largest Indian car manufacturer, is popular for its affordable, fuel-efficient cars. Earlier, India’s most affordable car was the Maruti Alto K10 with prices from Rs 4.73 lakh. After the implementation of new GST rates, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has now become the most affordable car in India, with prices starting from Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The S-Presso has witnessed a reduction of up to Rs 1.3 lakh in its ex-showroom price, thanks to GST 2.0.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

As informed earlier, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 used to be the most affordable car in India before the GST 2.0 was introduced. The Alto nameplate has remained quite popular in the country for the brand, and the Alto K10 has received price benefits of up to Rs 1.08 lakh on its ex-showroom pricing after the implementation of new GST rates. The Maruti Alto K10 is now available in the country with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 3.7 lakh.

Maruti Celerio

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has remained one of the most popular entry-level cars in India. After the announcement of new GST rates, the Celerio by Maruti has received price benefits of up to Rs 94,000. The prices for the Maruti Suzuki Celerio earlier started from Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom), but after the implementation of GST 2.0, the prices now start from Rs 4.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai i20

The Hyundai i20 was introduced in India back in 2008, and it has remained a popular hatchback in the country ever since. Earlier, prices for the i20 by Hyundai started at Rs 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom), but the car received a price reduction of up to Rs 97,000 after the implementation of GST 2.0. The prices for the Hyundai i20 now start from Rs 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz is popular as one of the safest hatchbacks currently offered in the market. The brand recently upgraded the Altroz with a facelift model. Earlier, the Tata Altroz prices began from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), but the premium hatchback by Tata received price benefits of up to Rs 1.1 lakh after the implementation of new GST rates. Now the prices for the Tata Altroz start from Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
