GST Rate Changes 2025:  The Indian government reformed GST Rates on September 4, 2025, and the new GST Rates will come into effect from September 22, 2025. The automobile industry of the country has welcomed the new GST reforms, and many automakers have begun extending the full benefit of the revision to the customers. Kia, the South Korean car manufacturer, is also among such carmakers. From Kia Syros to Kia Seltos and Kia Carens Clavis, the brand has a presence in major segments of the automobile industry. The brand’s cars are set to become more affordable by up to Rs 4.48 lakh after the implementation of the new GST rates.

Kia Cars: Prices Post-GST Reforms

The Kia Carens MPV will receive the least benefits of the GST reforms, and its prices will drop by Rs 48,000. The popular Kia Seltos SUV will receive a price reduction of Rs 75,000. The prices of the more premium Kia Carens Clavis will be reduced by Rs 78,000, and the Kia Sonet will receive a price cut of Rs 1.65 lakh. The popular hatchback by the brand, the Kia Syros, will receive a price reduction of Rs 1.86 lakh. The premium luxury MPV, Kia Carnival, will receive the highest benefits of up to Rs 4.48 lakh post GST reforms. It is worth noting that the price revision will be effective from September 22, 2025.

New GST Rates For Cars

The Indian government, in its GST Council meeting on September 4, 2025, decided to revise the existing GST rates. The automobile industry of the country has been demanding the GST reforms for a long time. Earlier, small cars were taxed at 28 percent GST and 1 percent cess, while the SUVs and luxury cars were taxed at 28 percent GST and a cess ranging between 17 percent to 22 percent. The SUV or luxury car owners ended up paying a total tax of up to 50 percent, while the small cars had a total tax of 29 percent. The Indian government has now slashed the GST from 28 percent to 18 percent for small cars, while the SUVs will be taxed at 40 percent GST.
