Honda 0 Alpha EV: Honda is set to officially enter India's EV (electric vehicle) market in 2027 with its 0 α (Alpha) SUV. The electric SUV will be manufactured in India at the company's Tapukara plant, meaning it will be priced competitively. The model will also be exported worldwide. It will serve as the entry point into the company's 0 series lineup of EVs and will replace the Elevate EV project that Honda had decided to shelve for good. We know that the upcoming Honda 0 Alpha will use a dedicated EV platform, but there is no confirmation on the battery capacity. 

Honda 0 Alpha EV: To Get CATL Battery

Having said that, in a recent development, Honda has announced that it will localise battery production for its EVs in Indonesia, including the 0 Alpha. China's largest battery maker, CATL, will supply battery cells from Indonesia for Honda's 0 Alpha EVs bound for the Indian market. This move will help reduce the automaker's reliance on China for battery cells, as it is working toward sourcing batteries locally through partnerships and JVs (Joint Ventures).

Honda 0 Alpha EV: Other Key Details

The Honda 0 Alpha features a born-electric platform and adopts a design language in line with the 0 SUV showcased at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States. While the vehicle's overall dimensions are comparable to those of the Elevate, it gets a longer wheelbase and a fully flat floor. Besides, the vehicle's EV platform enables a more spacious interior. Upon arrival, the Honda 0 Alpha will take on the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and the Hyundai Electric. Expect it to be priced north of Rs 20 lakh.
