Honda Amaze Variants Discontinued: Japanese automaker Honda recently updated its lineup with new safety features across its models. The City, City Hybrid (e:HEV) and Elevate now come with six airbags, while the City, City Hybrid (e:HEV), Elevate, and Amaze have seat belt reminders for all seats. However, this update has led to the discontinuation of two variants of the Amaze - the E and Elite Edition.

Honda Amaze Variants Discontinued

The Elite Edition of the Amaze, introduced during the festive season last year, was based on the top-end VX variant and featured additional enhancements like a rear spoiler, illuminated side steps and anti-fog film on the wing mirrors. Despite its popularity as a limited-run model, Honda has decided to discontinue it. The Amaze lineup has further been streamlined with the removal of the entry-level E variant, which was primarily liked by fleet operators due to its affordability. However, it faced tough competition from rivals like Hyundai Aura, Maruti Dzire and Tata Tigor, which offer factory-fitted CNG kits preferred by fleet operators.

Honda Amaze Price

After the discontinuation of these two variants, the Honda Amaze is now available in two variants - S and VX, priced at Rs 7.93 lakh and Rs 9.04 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively for manual variants. The CVT variants of Amaze S and VX are priced at Rs 8.83 lakh and Rs 9.86 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Third-Generation Honda Amaze

Looking ahead, Honda is gearing up to launch the third generation of the Amaze in India, expected to debut around Diwali 2024. This next-gen model will share the platform with the City and Elevate but with modifications, including a shorter wheelbase. The design and cabin of the sedan are expected to be upgraded, drawing inspiration from larger Honda sedans sold internationally.

The upcoming third-gen Amaze is expected to retain the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of offering a power output of 90 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. It will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT. Post its launch, it will continue to compete with models like Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and the upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
