Honda has unveiled an innovative ‘last-mile’ mobility solution called the Motocompacto, a mini electric scooter that can transform into a suitcase when not in use. It has been named Motocompacto while reminiscing the Honda Motocompo that was on sale in the 1980s. It is designed to transform into a suitcase-like form and offers a seat, a handlebar, foot pegs, a side stand and front and back lighting when opened up.

This modern electric scooter, the Motocompacto, takes inspiration from the original Honda Motocompo, a mini-scooter designed to fit in the 1981 Honda City hatchback's trunk. It was developed by Honda engineers in the USA and holds 32 patents.
Honda Motocompacto
Performance - The Honda Motocompacto electric scooter is equipped with a 490 W motor that produces 16 Nm of torque. Powered by a front-wheel drive it can achieve a top speed of 24 km/h. It uses a 6.8-Ah battery that fully charges in 3.5 hours, providing a 19 km range per charge.
Weight and Dimensions - The Motocompacto weighs a total of 19 kg which makes it easily portable. Honda's promotional video even showed it being placed in a car's trunk which is the most convenient way to carry it around when not in use. The Motocompacto’s main aim is to be compact while being easily portable. It features a wheelbase of 741 mm and a low seat height of 622 mm. Its dimensions are 967 mm in length, 889 mm in height, and 436 mm in width. When folded, these dimensions reduce to 741 mm, 535 mm, and 93.98 mm, respectively.

Price - It is currently available in the US for $995 (approximately Rs 82,000), So, it is undoubtedly a unique and compact mobility solution but also comes with an expensive price tag.
