In today’s world, cars are much safer than they have ever been. Cars including sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs now come with safety features like airbags, ISOFIX mounts, strong built structures and ADAS features which were previously available in luxury cars. These features are designed to reduce the impact of accidents or even prevent them from happening. So, we have curated a list of some of the safest cars in India as per Global NCAP ratings.

Volkswagen Virtus/Skoda Slavia 

Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are similar cars sharing most components. Both these cars have received 5-star safety ratings in Global NCAP tests with 29.71 points out of 34 points, making them India's safest cars.

Volkswagen Taigun/Skoda Kushaq

Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are also similar models sharing components. They have  earned 5-star safety ratings in Global NCAP tests with 29.64 points out of 34 points, ranking them among India's safest cars.

Mahindra Scorpio-N

Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV achieved a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP test after the revised protocols with 29.25 points out of 34 points for adult occupants.  

Tata Punch

Tata Motors' entry-level SUV, the Tata Punch, has earned a 5-star rating in India's safest cars list. It scored an exceptional 16.45 out of a maximum 17 points in the AOP category.

Mahindra XUV300

The Mahindra XUV300 has also received a 5-star rating from GNCAP. It achieved a score of 16.42 out of a maximum of 17 points in the AOP category.

Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz is the brand’s one of the most popular hatchbacks, probably for its safety, as it has also received a 5-star rating with a score of 16.13 points out of 17 points in the AOP category.

Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon was among one of the first cars in the country to get a 5-star rating in the GNCAP tests. Nexon bagged a total 16.06 points in the AOP category.

Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra XUV700 is the brand’s flagship SUV that has received a total of 16.03 points, therefore allowing it to get a 5-star rating in the GNCAP tests. 

Mahindra Thar 

Mahindra Thar is the brand’s popular off-roader, receiving a 4-star rating with a total score of 12.52 points in the AOP category.
