Korean Automaker Kia on Thursday announced that it will be increasing the prices of its best-selling cars -- Seltos and Carens -- in India from October. Kia’s line-up of vehicles in India includes models like the Sonet, Carnival and EV6. However, the prices of these models will remain the same.

Kia had last increased the prices of its models in April after it launched the Seltos, Sonet and Carens with updated engines to meet BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Due to increased production costs, Kia has announced a 2 per cent price hike for its Seltos and Carens models starting October 1.

Kia Seltos

In July 2023, Kia introduced the updated Seltos SUV at a starting price of Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). To meet the growing demand of the festive season, the carmaker recently unveiled two new variants of the Seltos SUV, priced between Rs 19.40 lakh and Rs 19.60 lakh, positioning them just below the top-spec variant priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

While Kia has not specified the exact Seltos variants affected by the 2 per cent price hike, it is expected that the base model could see an increase of over Rs 20,000, with the top variant’s cost rising by up to Rs 40,000.

Kia Carens

Kia introduced the MPV Carens in India in February 2022 at a starting price of Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, due to several price hikes over the past 18 months, the entry-level Carens now comes at a price tag of Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end variant’s price goes up to Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
