In the last ten years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation have changed the world significantly. They're not just tools for simple tasks anymore, they're now used for complex things like understanding human behaviour. This advancement in Artificial Intelligence has also affected the automotive industry. While many car companies use AI and automation to make their cars better, Hyundai Motor India has taken it a step further by using these technologies in their manufacturing plants.

In a recent interview with HT Auto, Gopala Krishnan CS, the Chief Manufactring Officer at Hyundai Motor India Limited, explained that their goal is to make cars with zero defects. This means that every customer gets a perfect car. They do this by focusing on three main things: making strong car bodies, testing rigorously and ensuring high quality.
At their manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, they use Industry 4.0 Automation. This includes components like automated 3D scanners, which make sure that each car body is the right size and shape. By using AI, they can make their manufacturing processes smoother, reduce mistakes and increase their production quantity.
Hyundai believes in customer-focused innovation as they use digital processes, robot programs, testing offline and virtual reality training to develop new car models faster. Krishnan also said that this approach helps them create a culture of innovation among their employees, leading to better ideas for future cars.
Hyundai is also using AI to keep up with market demand. Their manufacturing plant in Chennai can make different car models on the same production line. This means they can change how many of each model they make depending on what customers want. This helps reduce the time customers have to wait for their cars.
Krishnan explained that Hyundai is making careful decisions to invest in future technologies. Their goal is to make cars better for customers. Overall, they want to be at the top when it comes to manufacturing cars by using advanced technology. So, AI and automation aren't just changing how cars are made; they're also making cars better and helping companies like Hyundai keep up with customer demands.
