South Korean automaker Hyundai India is working on an off-road variant of the Ioniq 5 electric SUV. A test mule of this off-road variant of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has recently been spotted undergoing testing. The spy shots of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 off-road variant showcases several enhancements over the standard model, hinting at its potential as part of Hyundai's XRT range. Hyundai’s XRT range is dedicated to rugged versions of its SUV lineup.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT
As per a report by Autocar, the spy shots of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 off-road variant features notable exterior modifications such as updated bumpers, new wheels, and additional accessories. It is likely that this variant will be added to the XRT lineup which currently includes models like the Tucson, Palisade, Santa Fe SUVs and the Santa Cruz pickup truck.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT - Exterior Design
Talking about its exterior design, it features black plastic body cladding, roof rails, and distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 30-inch all-terrain tyres. Moreover, it boasts a raised ground clearance of 38mm compared to the regular Ioniq 5, enhancing its off-road capabilities. It is also expected that it will feature rugged bumpers, XRT badging and a unique interior theme.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT - Powertrain
There is no confirmation on the powertrain details, however, it is speculated that the Ioniq 5 XRT will feature a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive. The two motors are likely to deliver a power output of 325 bhp and 604 Nm of torque. It is anticipated that it will be equipped with a 77.4kWh battery pack that will allow it to deliver a driving range of 418 km. It is also possible that it might be equipped with a larger 84kWh battery from the Korean-spec Ioniq 5 facelift, providing an even greater range.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT - Launch
It is anticipated that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT could debut by the end of 2025 for all global markets. It will initially be introduced in the United States, followed by a rollout in Europe. However, it is unlikely to reach the Indian market, similar to other special edition variants like the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 5 N Line.
