India recently launched its own New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) known as the Bharat NCAP or BNCAP. The implementation of the Bharat NCAP programme was scheduled to come into effect from October 1, 2023. Previously, the Global NCAP was responsible for conducting crash tests on newly launched cars and giving them safety ratings. As the Bharat NCAP comes into full effect GNCAP has tested its last batch of made-in-India vehicles that has revealed some new-comers in the ‘Safest Cars Of India’ list.
Tata Harrier
Tata has recently launched the Harrier SUV facelift with exceptional safety features that have enabled the SUV to receive a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. The Harrier scored 33.05 out of 34 points in the Child Occupant category and 45 out of 49 in the Adult Occupant category. The Tata SUV meets Global NCAP's ESC requirements and provides optional Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technologies. Notable safety features of the Harrier include frontal airbags, belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, side curtain airbags, side chest airbags and seat belt reminders for all seats.
Tata Safari
Along with the Harrier, Tata also launched the facelift of another SUV, Tata Safari. Tata Safari is identical to the Harrier in terms of build quality, structural integrity and safety features. So evidently, the Safari SUV also received a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests and scored the same points in both the Child Occupant and Adult Occupant categories as the Harrier. The Safari is also equipped with similar safety features that include frontal airbags, belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, side curtain airbags, side chest airbags and seat belt reminders for all seats.
