Mahindra Thar 5-Door Mid-Spec Variant Spotted Ahead Of August 15 Launch; Check New Design

Mahindra Thar 5-Door Mid-Spec Variant Spotted: Mahindra, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated Thar 5-door SUV in the second half of 2024. As we have reported previously, the Thar 5-door is likely to be launched on August 15, 2024. The Thar 5-door SUV has been spotted testing multiple times ahead of its launch. It has been spotted in various trim levels across different terrains.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door Mid-Spec Variant Spotted 

This time a mid-spec variant of the Thar 5-door was observed at night, showcasing its illuminated headlights and taillights. Despite being fully camouflaged, the test vehicle’s road presence was evident, especially with its monotone alloy wheels. It’s expected that the base model will feature steel wheels, while the top variant will come with dual-tone alloy wheels. A peek inside the test mule revealed the dual-pod instrument cluster, similar to the 3-door Thar, suggesting it’s a mid-spec variant. The top-spec version is anticipated to have a digital driver’s display.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Features 

Talking about features onboard the Thar 5-door, it is expected to include several upgrades such as a larger touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a single-pane sunroof, auto AC with rear vents and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM). Previous spy shots hinted that it might also feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Safety 

In terms of safety, the Thar 5-door could come with up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Higher variants might also include a 360-degree camera. Additionally, it will continue to have the existing safety features from the current Thar, like traction control, hill descent control and seat belt reminders for all passengers.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Engine Specs 

Coming to its powertrain, the Mahindra Thar 5-door is likely to keep the existing powertrain options as the current Thar. However, this configuration will be tuned to be more powerful. The engine options include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The Thar 5-door will offer both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Expected Price 

Following the official launch of the Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV, it is anticipated that its price will range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Force Gurkha 5-door and serve as a larger alternative to the Maruti Jimny.
