Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Mahindra Thar is a popular off-roader SUV that was first launched in India in 2010, however, that model did not gain as much traction as the second-gen Thar. The current-gen Mahindra Thar is a popular off-road SUV model in the country and the manufacturer is now in the works to launch a 5-door variant of the Thar. The Mahindra Thar 5-door variant has also been spotted testing several times ahead of its launch this year. Additionally, as per media reports, the 5-door Thar is anticipated to launch in February 2024. Let's take a look at five things you need to know about the upcoming 5-door model of the Mahindra Thar. 

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Design 

Talking about the design of the upcoming 5-door Thar, it will get new styling elements like a new front grille, LED fog lamps, LED headlights and DRLs. It is also likely that it will get new alloy wheels, redesigned tail lights and new colour schemes. Additionally, it is also likely that the new 5-door Thar will be only available in a hard top variant.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Interior 

In terms of interiors, the Mahindra Thar 5-door has been designed as a more family oriented SUV with enhanced cabin space. It is also likely that it will feature a single-pane sunroof, a feature that is missing from the 3-door model of the Thar. Moreover, it will get new features such as a dashcam, a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen display, a rear parking camera, a redesigned steering wheel, adjustable seat belt height, a revamped front armrest, cup holders positioned behind the gear lever and a USB-C charging port.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Engine 

Talking about the powertrain configurations in the upcoming 5-door Thar, it is likely that it will continue to use the same engine setup that is being utilised in the existing 3-door Thar. The powertrain choices in the 3-door variant of the Thar are a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The diesel engine produces a power output of 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque whereas the turbo petrol engine is capable of producing a power output of 152 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - Price 

Post its launch, the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door will be positioned between the current-gen Thar and Mahindra’s popular SUV model, the XUV700. Therefore, it is fair to assume that the new 5-door Thar will be priced above Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) with its prices going up till Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Thar 5-Door - New Names 

Additionally, Mahindra recently patented seven new names for the upcoming 5-door model of the Thar. The list of patented names include the Thar Armada, Thar Cult, Thar Rex, Thar Savannah, Thar Roxx, Thar Gladius and Thar Centurion. There is a possibility that these will be the variants of the upcoming 5-door Thar.
