Mahindra XEV 9E And BE6 Hybrid: Mahindra launched its electric SUVs, the BE6 and XEV 9E, in India in November 2024. Both of these SUVs have received huge demand and popularity ever since. Now, the brand is planning to provide a new Hybrid powertrain to its born electric SUVs. The Hybrid segment is registering an increase in demand in India, and Mahindra might be looking forward to expanding its presence in the segment.
The brand has not yet officially confirmed any details about the development. However, Mahindra’s current lineup in India doesn’t have any Hybrid cars, and the brand is already working to make an entry into the Hybrid segment. Thus, it is very much possible that the Brand can offer its top-selling SUVs with a Hybrid Powertrain.

Mahindra XEV 9E and BE6 are born electric SUVs. Both of these SUVs are made on the brand’s INGLO platform, which is not configurable for an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) setup. If Mahindra launches the XEV 9E and BE6 with a Hybrid powertrain, the brand will have to make changes to the platform, which might result in changes in the overall design of the SUVs.
If Mahindra introduces the XEV 9E and BE6 with a Hybrid powertrain, it is expected to use the 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, offered with the Mahindra XUV 3XO currently. This engine will be mated with an electronic system, which will deliver enhanced fuel efficiency, along with slightly better performance. It remains to be seen whether the brand will offer its car with a strong hybrid or a mild hybrid an option.
