Maruti Suzuki India has brought back its 'mild-hybrid' technology for the Brezza, now offering it with a manual transmission option. The ZXI MT variant has been priced at Rs 11.05 lakh (ex-showroom) and the ZXI+ MT with 'mild-hybrid' technology has been priced at Rs 12.48 lakh. Additionally, the 'mild-hybrid' tech is also accessible with automatic transmission choices for the VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+ trim levels.

The addition of the mild-hybrid option has increased the fuel efficiency of the ZXI and ZXI+ manual transmission variants from 17.38 kmpl to 19.89 kmpl. However, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx claims an even higher mileage of 21.7 kmpl, surpassing the Brezza hybrid by 1.9 kmpl. Moreover, this figure is slightly lower than the 20.5 kmpl achieved by the Brezza's 103 bhp, K15C engine with mild-hybrid technology before it was discontinued. The Brezza with automatic transmission continues to deliver an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 19.8 kmpl. In addition to the petrol powertrain, the Brezza also comes with a CNG fuel option. However, the CNG models do not include the 'mild-hybrid' technology or an automatic option.

Maruti Suzuki India claims that the Smart Hybrid technology makes driving better and offers better fuel efficiency. In both manual and automatic cars, the engine starts quietly when needed and stops on its own when the car is not moving. There are two batteries equipped in the Smart Hybrid powertrain and one of them is a lithium-ion battery pack. Currently, this 'mild-hybrid' technology is available in six Maruti Suzuki models: Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Fronx, Ciaz and Grand Vitara. Some variants of Grand Vitara and Invicto are also offered with a more powerful 'strong-hybrid' technology.
