This video further triggered speculation that the manufacturer might be sending the Fronx SUV for crash testing under the Bharat NCAP safety rating programme.
What Is Bharat NCAP Crash Test?
The Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari recently launched the Bharat NCAP tests that came into effect from October 1. Bharat NCAP tests will be conducted under the same parameters as the Global NCAP, therefore eliminating the need of conducting GNCAP tests on Indian cars.
With the introduction of the Bharat NCAP tests, India has become the fifth country in the world to have its own safety system to test cars in terms of safety. Bharat NCAP emblem and sticker will be present on cars with their safety rating score after clearing the test. Automobile manufacturers can voluntarily nominate their cars to be tested under the BNCAP protocols. Under Bharat NCAP, vehicles are tested in three main areas: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), and Safety Assist Technologies (SAT). The tests are conducted by approved labs like GARC Chennai, ICAT Manesar, and ARAI Pune.

The Bharat NCAP programme will not just test ICE vehicles but also CNG and EVs that are manufactured in India. The BNCAP assessment comprises three primary tests: the offset deformable barrier frontal impact test, the side impact test and the pole side impact test. To achieve a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP, vehicles are required to achieve a minimum of 27 points for adult occupant protection and 41 points for child occupant protection.
