Maruti Suzuki has announced this price cut, as part of its plan to encourage more entry-level buyers to choose automatic cars. Partho Banerjee, Sales and Marketing Head at Maruti Suzuki, stated, “We want more and more customers at the entry-level also to upgrade to the automatic variants.” Currently, only 10 percent of Arena customers choose automatic cars, compared to double that percentage among Nexa buyers.
Models affected from this price cut include the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno and Fronx, all equipped with AGS technology. However, models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz, XL6, Invicto, Grand Vitara and Jimny, which feature torque converter automatic transmissions, are not included in this price reduction.
Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is introducing a new Dream Edition variant for the Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio. These limited-run models will be available only in June, and will be available at a price of Rs 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Effective June 1, 2024, Maruti Suzuki has revised the starting price for its AMT range, reducing the cost of the Alto K10 VXI AMT from Rs 5.56 lakhs to Rs 5.51 lakhs (ex-showroom). This pricing change significantly lowers the entry-level price of the Celerio by Rs 38,000, bringing it down from the current Rs 5.37 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the LXI variant. Maruti Suzuki is optimistic about the impact of these price reductions on their sales. The company sold around 1.32 lakh AGS models last year and is projecting a 15-20 per cent increase in sales for the upcoming financial year due to this adjustment.
