Denza is an upcoming automaker in the electric vehicle (EV) market that will offer the technical expertise of BYD with the luxury heritage of Mercedes-Benz. Denza is 90 per cent owned by BYD and 10 per cent by Mercedes-Benz. In the first quarter of 2024, Denza achieved significant sales with 10,279 vehicles sold.

Now, they are set to unveil their latest model, the Denza Z9 GT, which is expected to further solidify their position in the EV segment. This will be Denza's fourth EV following the launches of the D9 minivan, N7 and N8 crossovers. Interestingly, BYD has global plans for the Z9 GT as it plans to introduce it to the European market next year, signaling Denza's ambition to expand its presence beyond China.

Denza Z9 GT - Design

In terms of design, the Denza Z9 GT boasts angular headlights, a sculpted bumper and bold lines that enhance its overall exterior appearance. At the rear, it features distinctive LED tail lights, a roof spoiler and a secondary spoiler on the decklid that can be deployed, distinguishing it from other shooting brake models. The Z9 GT's dimensions measure 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and standing 1,500 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

Denza Z9 GT - Performance 

Before its official debut at the Auto China show in Beijing on April 25, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China has shared photos and details about the Z9 GT. This upcoming EV is equipped with three electric motors - one at the front that produces 304 bhp and a pair at the rear that each generate 318 bhp, resulting in a total power output of 939 bhp.

Despite its substantial weight of 2,875 kg, heavier than many luxury SUVs, the Z9 GT is projected to reach a top speed of 240 km/h. Details about its acceleration are not yet disclosed but are anticipated to be impressive given its power capabilities. The specification of the battery pack is not yet disclosed, but it's expected to be substantial, likely using BYD's Blade design.
