MG Motor India currently sells two electric vehicles models in the Indian market, the Comet EV and the ZS EV. In recent news, the British manufacturer has recently filed a trademark for 'Excelor EV', hinting at a possible new addition to its EV lineup. However, filing a trademark does not confirm the launch of a new vehicle. Last year, MG filed a design patent for the Baojun Yep, a small electric SUV that shares its platform with the Comet EV. The Baojun Yep Plus is a 5-door version of the Yep with a 3-door body style. There is speculation that MG might introduce their version of the Baojun Yep as the Excelor EV, but an official announcement is awaited.

MG Comet EV

MG recently updated the Comet EV with fast charging support. The new fast charging feature is available on the Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants. These variants are available in India at a price of Rs 8.24 lakh and Rs 9.14 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). These variants replace the previous Push, Play and Pace variants. The 7.4 kW AC fast charging option reduces the charging time for the MG Comet EV to under 3.5 hours (0-100 per cent), compared to 7 hours on a 3.3 kW AC charger. The range remains unchanged at 230 km on a single charge from the 17.3 kWh battery pack. The new fast-charging variants also come with additional features such as rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake, ESC, hill-hold control, electrically foldable body-colored rear view mirrors and a creep mode.

MG ZS EV

MG ZS EV is available in India with its prices ranging between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.08 lakh (ex-showroom). The ZS EV is also available in four broad variants - Executive, Excite Pro, Exclusive Plus and Essence. The MG ZS EV is equipped with a 50.3 kWh battery pack that allows it to deliver a claimed driving range of 461 km. The ZS EV can be fully charged in approximately 8.5 to 9 hours using a 7.4 kW AC charger. Alternatively, a 50 kW DC fast charger can recharge the battery from 0-80 per cent in just 60 minutes. MG ZS EV boasts advanced features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver seat and a wireless phone charger.
