Ola Electric Car Design: At its Sankalp event held on August 15, Ola Electric teased two electric cars by showing their silhouettes. The first silhouette seemed to be of a small family-oriented vehicle, while the second silhouette had the form factor of the MG Comet EV. Now, a patent image pointing at the electric car similar to the Comet EV has surfaced online, giving us a preview of its exterior design. While Ola had scrapped its electric car project over a year ago, it appears that the brand has resumed its plans to launch its first electric four-wheeler.

Ola Electric Car: What to Expect?

Likely to be a mass-market and affordable model, the patented electric four-wheeler previews a five-door micro hatchback, hinting at an urban mobility style similar to the Japanese kei car. The specifics have yet to be revealed, but the new Ola electric four-wheeler is expected to utilise the modular Gen 4 platform, which will also spawn three-wheelers, LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles), and four-wheelers.

Ola's Gen 4 platform, yet to be launched, will feature a 21bhp (16kW) electric motor and a battery pack with in-house 4680 cells. According to Ola, the Gen 4 platform will be lighter, 15 per cent more energy efficient, and more cost-effective than the current platform.

Whether Ola goes ahead with the production of this electric four-wheeler is uncertain, given its poor after-sales service and rising customer complaints. Having said that, if the EV manufacturer plans to launch it in India, the model will compete against the MG Comet EV, Tata Tiago EV, and the (recently patented) VinFast Minio Green in the electric supermini segment. The Minio Green sold abroad gets a 14.7kWh battery pack that delivers an NEDC-claimed range of 170km.
