Cars and vehicles have now become more advanced than ever before and are equipped with some top-notch technological features. These features not just elevate the driving experience within the car but have also facilitated in increasing safety. Safety has become paramount in this modern age, when it is related to the car you’re driving. However, there are a plethora of features that are being offered currently in cars. Therefore, we are here to help you figure out your essentials and look for these features before buying a car.

Airbags

Airbags have become a standard safety feature when it comes to modern-age cars. All car makers provide at least 2 airbags as a standard feature. However, it's advisable to choose a car with a minimum of 6 standard airbags for better safety. Airbags help in preventing injuries during accidents as they act as cushion-like devices between the dashboard and occupant. This helps in preventing injuries by absorbing and spreading the impact during a collision.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

The TPMS ensures smooth car operation by monitoring proper wheel alignment and tyre air pressure. Low air pressure can cause excessive tire wear, potential bursts and loss of control. The TPMS alerts the driver on the car's instrument cluster about low tire pressure.

In-Built Navigation

In-built navigation functionality helps you find your way easily without having to worry about connecting your smartphone to the car. However, since many mobile apps do the same, it is available in a lot of vehicles as an optional feature.

Parking Sensors

Parking sensors use radar or sonar to detect people, vehicles or objects you might not see while parking. They beep and show alerts, often on the screen, to help you know where the object is. Rear sensors are common and make noise if you get too close to something. Front sensors are found in lesser cars but are useful for tight parking spots where the hood might hide things.

Cruise Control

There are two types of cruise control available in cars - Standard and Adaptive. Standard cruise control keeps you at a set speed on the highway but it's not of great use if there are slower cars around. You have to turn it off and on again when you pass them. Adaptive cruise control is more advanced as it keeps your speed unless you get close to a slower car in your lane. Then, it slows down to keep a safe distance. It uses cameras, lasers, or radars to sense the other vehicle.

Automatic Emergency Braking

Automatic emergency braking (AEB) uses sensors to sense if your car is too close to any other vehicle or object and automatically applies the brakes to prevent any crash or injuries. It works by stopping your car quickly when activated, often before you realize it. There are two types: one for slow city traffic and another for various speeds. If it can't stop the car completely, it tries to slow it down as much as possible.
