Republic Day 2024: As India celebrates its 75th Republic Day today, the Indian Army displayed its might and power at the Kartavya Path during the Republic Day Parade. Some of the highlights of the exhibit shown by the Indian Army included the Tank T-90 Bhishma, NAG Missile System, Infantry Combat Vehicle, All-Terrain Vehicle, Pinaka, Weapon Locating Radar System ‘Swathi,’ Sarvatra Mobile Bridging System, Drone Jammer System, and Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile System.
As an automobile enthusiast, what caught our attention was the All-Terrain Vehicle showcased by our Army. The All-Terrain Vehicles or ATVs are part of the Quick Reaction Force Vehicles used by the Quick Reaction Teams of the Indian army. These Quick Reaction Force Vehicles include a heavy, medium and light Specialist vehicle, a mounted Infantry Mortar System, an All-terrain vehicle and a Specialist Mobility Vehicle.
At India’s 75th Republic Day parade, this department was led by Major Toofan Singh Chauhan, 5 Rajput on All-Terrain Vehicle, Lt Col Panmei Kabiphun on Light Specialist Vehicle, 19 Maratha Light Infantry & Capt Armandeep Singh Aujla of 2nd Battalion of the First Gorkha Rifles on QRFV.

All About Indian Army’s All-Terrain Vehicle - Polaris
The Indian army’s ATV is named the Polaris and Major Toofan Singh Chauhan revealed specific details about this versatile ATV. The ATV can be used in various kinds of terrain and fields, particularly in the mountains, arid desert areas, mud flats and even in snowy terrains. The ATV is an extremely lightweight vehicle, therefore, it can be conveniently airlifted and can also be used for the transportation of troops from one place to another.
The Polaris ATV boasts a seating capacity of six individuals and can also be integrated with a Light Machine Gun at the rear end. Moreover, the Polaris ATV does not have any armour on its exterior due to its lightweight design. The main objective of the ATV is to transfer troops from point A to point B as quickly as possible. These ATVs boast superior suspension performance which helps the troops in manoeuvring this vehicle even at a 60-degree alleviation and 45-degree depression.
