Signs Of Engine Seizure: When your car's engine seizes, it means it's stuck and won't start. Even though your car's lights and radio may work, turning the key won't make the engine start. This usually happens because something is wrong with the engine, and fixing it can be expensive. Let’s go through some signs of engine seizure and explore what might be causing it.
Reduced Acceleration - Reduced acceleration and performance in your car can indicate an upcoming engine seizure, as the engine struggles to produce enough power for acceleration.

Low Oil Pressure Warning - Another sign of a seized engine is a low oil pressure warning, which indicates low engine oil levels. This mostly results from insufficient oil in the system which means you need to check and add oil as required.
Electrical System Failure -Although the electrical system and engine mechanics are different, a seized engine can cause the electrical system to fail. The engine’s inability to generate power causes a gradual loss of car functions. Ultimately, the battery dies, leaving the car unable to start because it has no power source.
Engine Won’t Start - When an engine locks up, you can't start the car anymore. But you can still use things like the heater fan, lights, and radio inside the car.
Noises - Before the engine completely locks up, you might hear some strange noises like a light tapping or faint knocking. When you hear a loud "death knock," it means the engine is about to fail, usually because something inside is hitting something else, like a piston rod hitting the crankshaft.

Engine Overheating - Engine overheating is a clear indication of a seized engine. Keep an eye on your dashboard temperature gauge. If it goes up, it means the engine is heating up. This often occurs due to low oil, but can also be from a blocked cooling system or bad coolant.
Smoke - An engine on the verge of seizing may produce thick, black, and smelly smoke because it's burning more fuel. If you notice this smoke coming from your car, it's a sign of a potential engine issue, and you should get it to a mechanic immediately.
