Tata Nexon CNG Launch Confirmed: Tata Motors has announced that the Nexon will soon be offered with a CNG powertrain option. The manufacturer has revealed that the Tata Nexon CNG will be launched in the Indian market within this financial year. This addition makes the Nexon the first vehicle in India to offer four fuel types: petrol, diesel, electric and CNG. Additionally, Tata Motors plans to introduce the Curvv in both electric and internal combustion engine versions and the Tata Harrier EV, all within this financial year.

Tata Nexon CNG - Details

The upcoming Nexon CNG was first seen in near-production form as the Nexon iCNG concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. While the Nexon CNG will retain its familiar exterior and interior design, it will have some mechanical adjustments for the CNG system, particularly to its suspension. The vehicle will also feature iCNG badges to set it apart from other models.

Nexon CNG stands out as India's first turbocharged CNG vehicle, utilising the same 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine found in the petrol version. Tata Motors recently added AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variants to its Tiago and Tigor CNG models, hinting that the Nexon CNG might also get an AMT gearbox option.

Tata Nexon CNG - Dual Cylinder Technology

One notable feature is the dual-cylinder technology, similar to what is used in Tata’s other CNG models. This setup divides the fuel capacity into two smaller cylinders, offering more boot space. The spare wheel will be stored under the boot area.

The Nexon CNG will compete with the Maruti Brezza CNG in the Indian market. When launched, the Nexon will be the only vehicle in India to offer such a wide range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, CNG with various gearbox options, and an all-electric version.
