Tata Motors recently revealed the facelifts of one of its most popular SUVs, Nexon and Nexon EV which are set to be launched for the Indian market on September 14. Post this launch, it is being speculated that Tata Motors is also planning the launch of Tata Punch EV which might be officially launched by the end of October.

Tata Punch EV will be the brand’s fourth EV after the Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Tigor EV. Tata Punch is the brand’s smallest SUV and is the third model which will be offered in ICE,CNG and EV variants.

Tata Punch EV - Design

In terms of looks, it is unlikely that there will be any changes made to the already existing model of the Tata Punch. Though it is expected that the brand will use its new EV identity for the first time. The car’s interiors will feature the teal blue theme which is used in all the EV models of the brand.

Tata Punch EV has been spotted being tested multiple times and the spy shots reveal that the charging port will be mounted on the front bumper of the car, which isn’t the case for already existing EVs from the brand.

Tata Punch EV - Powertrain

The upcoming Punch EV from Tata will utilise Tata's Ziptron powertrain technology and will be built upon the ALFA platform, incorporating Tata's gen-2 EV architecture. This innovative architecture involves substantial modifications for the transition from an internal combustion engine (ICE) to an electric vehicle (EV). The Punch EV will be equipped with a liquid-cooled battery system and a front-wheel-drive setup featuring a permanent magnet synchronous motor.

Similar to Tata's previous electric models like the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon EVs, it is likely that the Punch EV will be offered with a choice of two different battery sizes and various charging options.

Tata Punch EV - Battery and Range

Tata Motors is expected to incorporate either the 24 kWh or the 26 kWh battery pack, similar to those used in their existing models of the Tiago EV and Tigor EV. The Tiago EV's smaller battery provides a range of up to 250 kilometres on a single charge, while the larger battery fitted in the Tigor EV offers a range of up to 315 kilometres. It is anticipated that the Punch EV will fall within the range of approximately 300 kilometres, depending on the battery pack chosen. It is also expected to have fast charging capabilities.
