Tata Punch EV Spotted: Tata Motors, one of the most significant players in India's electric vehicle market with models like the Tigor EV, Tiago EV, and Nexon EV. As reported earlier, Tata is gearing up to introduce the electric variant of the Punch and the Punch EV will be the brand’s fourth EV after the Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Tigor EV. Tata Punch is the brand’s smallest SUV and is the third model which will be offered in ICE,CNG and EV variants. Tata Motors aims to position the Punch EV as a viable SUV alternative to the Tigor EV, which falls in the price range of Rs 12.49-13.75 lakh.

The Punch EV has once again been spotted testing, revealing an interesting detail - a fake exhaust. The test mule also lacked rear disc brakes and the charging port was mounted on the front bumper of the car, which isn’t the case for already existing EVs from the brand.

Tata Punch EV - Design 

The most significant change is noticeable in the redesigned front fascia, taking inspiration from the new Harrier and Safari models. It features a vertically stacked headlamp setup with LED projectors, a unique bumper design with vertical strips resembling the Nexon EV. The test mule also featured a new set of alloy wheels and larger outside rearview mirrors which have been borrowed from the Harrier and Safari models. Additionally, the Punch EV might come equipped with an electronic parking brake.

Tata Punch EV - Interior 

Not a lot of details about the interior are visible, however, from what is visible it has been noted that the interior features a new two-spoke steering wheel with a Tata’s illuminated logo as seen in the new Nexon. The Punch EV could be fitted with a 7-inch or 10.25-inch infotainment system, along with rotary-style gear shifter and a new instrument cluster designed to display EV-related information. The car’s interiors will feature the teal blue theme which is used in all the EV models of the brand.

Tata Punch EV - Powertrain 

The Punch EV is expected to use Tata’s Ziptron powertrain technology and will be built on the ALFA platform, incorporating Tata's gen-2 EV architecture. The Punch EV will feature a liquid-cooled battery system and a front-wheel-drive configuration with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Following the pattern of Tata's earlier electric models such as the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon EVs, it is likely that the Punch EV will be offered with a choice of two different battery sizes and various charging options.
