Tata Sierra SUV Launch: Following its official reveal on November 15, the Tata Sierra SUV has been launched in India at an introductory ex-showroom price ranging from Rs 11.49 lakh. Positioned as a rival to the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Suzuki Victoris in the mid-size SUV space, the Sierra gets a retro-modern design, a feature-rich cabin (with a segment-first triple screen setup), and multiple powertrain options.

Tata Sierra SUV: Powertrain

The Tata Sierra is built on the ARGOS (All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable) architecture, which supports petrol, hybrid, CNG, and all-wheel-drive setups.

Under the hood, the new Sierra ICE features three 1.5-litre engine options: a 105bhp naturally aspirated petrol, a 158bhp turbocharged petrol, and a 116bhp diesel unit. The last one has been borrowed from the Currvv coupe-SUV, which slots below the newly launched Sierra SUV in terms of market positioning. Gearbox options include 6-speed automatic, 6-speed manual, and 7-speed DCT.

The Sierra will also be available with an AWD setup at a later stage. With customer demand for CNG growing across segments, there is a possibility that Tata might bring the CNG version of the Sierra.

Tata Sierra SUV: Features

On the inside, the Sierra gets a dual-tone theme, in addition to a three-screen layout (a central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a passenger's display) on the dashboard. The 4-spoke steering wheel design has been retained, though. Other nifties include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear sunshades, wireless charging, and a JBL music system (with Dolby Atmos). The Sierra is the second mid-size SUV to feature Dolby Atmos; the first car is the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

Safety-wise, the SUV offers a 360-degree camera, ABS, EBD, 3-point seatbelts, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and an ADAS suite.

Tata Sierra SUV: Design

Unveiled a few days ago, the Sierra boasts a retro-modern design. It has kept its upright and boxy styling as well as minimalist lines, while featuring modern design elements such as a split headlamp setup, connected light signatures, flush door handles, faux skid plates, and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Other nods to the original SUV include the signature curved-over rear quarter glass, a high-set bonnet, a clean shoulder line, and squared-off wheel arches. The new Sierra has a sharper roofline and features a 5-door layout versus the OG's 3-door layout. It features a 2,700mm wheelbase, a 205mm ground clearance, and a 450mm water wading capacity.

Tata Sierra SUV: Booking and Delivery Timeline
