Tesla India News: Tesla has finally decided to enter Indian market, making it official on its Tesla India X handle. This is for the first time a post has been made on the Tesla India handle and it confirms that the Elon Musk-led brand and the world’s second-largest EV manufacturer, is set to make its official debut in India on July 15, 2025.
Multiple images of the EV manufacturer's first showroom are making the round of internet already ahead of the inauguration. The first showroom will pop up at the posh location of BKC, Mumbai, followed by another showoom launch in Delhi soon. Further, the brand will enter India with its crossover Tesla Model Y.

Elon Musk In India
As per several media reports, Elon Musk is also expected to come to India for the first showroom launch of Tesla. In addition to the launch of the Tesla brand, he is expected to announce Starlink Wireless services. Though there's no confirmation of his visit as of now.
First Showroom In India
Several pics of a showroom in BKC Mumbai have appeared on the social media platform X, which is also owned by Elon Musk. The showroom will also be an experience centre and entry to the brand in India. As per several media reports, the brand will also open a second showroom in the country, which is expected to be in the national capital, Delhi.
First Tesla Car In India
It is now confirmed that Tesla Model Y, one of Tesla’s most popular nameplates globally, and also the most affordable car from the brand will enter India first. The homologation process for its Model Y and Model 3 cars was initiated by the brand back in March 2025. It is expected that Tesla will launch Model Y in the coming months, with bookings beginning on July 15.
The Model Y is known globally for its long range, fast acceleration, and cutting-edge technology features. It is also the most affordable vehicle from Tesla and also has a crossover design. The Tesla SUV was spotted testing several times in India recently.
Imported From China
Currently, Tesla doesn’t have a Manufacturing plant in the country. While there has been a standoff between the government and Elon Musk for manufacturing cars in India, it is expected that Tesla will first import vehicles from its Shanghai-based Gigafactory. So far, the Brand has imported merchandise, superchargers, service tools, and accessories as well.
As per reports, the Tesla Model Y has a documented price of Rs 27.7 lakhs, but each imported unit will attract around Rs 21 lakhs, which will place it at a price ranging between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 55 lakhs.
