Tesla Model Y Delivery India: Tesla has reportedly delivered 60 units of the Model Y in the Indian market. While the figure may look underwhelming, it comes on the back of high import tariffs, lack of localisation, and limited brand presence, reflecting in the exorbitant pricing of the Model Y (Rs 59.89 lakh–Rs 67.89 lakh, ex-showroom). Moreover, Tesla's operations remain restricted to Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, and Pune.

Tesla Revised 2025 Targets, Prompted by Sluggish Model Y Demand

Tesla had originally planned to deliver 2,500 units of the Model Y a year, but sluggish demand led the company to revise its 2025 target to 350-500 units a year. It officially commenced deliveries of the Model Y in India late last month, more than two months after making its entry into the Indian EV market. Brought in as a completely built unit (CBU), the Tesla Model Y is positioned in the premium EV segment dominated by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Volvo. VinFast is the latest entrant to the segment with the VF6 and the VF7 electric models.
