Big news for electric vehicle enthusiasts and buyers in India, as world's largest electric car brand, Tesla, is finally set to enter the Indian market on July 15, 2025. According to reports, the Tesla is set to open its first showroom at the posh Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The event will most likely by attended by Tesla CEO Elon Musk himself.

However, certain media reports indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be present for the announcement as well. Although, this is not the only reason why Elon Musk will be arriving in India.

Elon Musk will most likely also announce the Starlink wireless services in India, along with the launch of Tesla in the country. The brand which is known for cars like Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model X and Tesla Model S has been testing its electric vehicles in India for several months now.

After years of negotioations with the Indian government, Tesla will most likely begin its India operations with its most affordable Tesla Model Y, with multiple sightings of test cars across the country.

Tesla’s First Car in India: Model Y

Tesla’s first offering for Indian customers will be the Model Y, a premium electric SUV that is expected to be priced around Rs 50-70 lakh. This model will be imported from Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory, which manufactures right-hand drive (RHD) variants suited for the Indian market.

The Model Y is known globally for its long range, fast acceleration, and cutting-edge technology features. It is also the most affordable vehicle from Tesla and has a crossover design, perfect for the Indian market.

Tesla Showroom Coming to Mumbai

Alongside the launch, Tesla is also preparing to open its first official showroom and experience center in BKC, Mumbai. Spy shots of the showroom have been doing the rounds of Internet at a posh locality.

This will allow customers to experience Tesla’s electric vehicles firsthand, get details about specs, performance, and even take test drives. The showroom is expected to become the central hub for Tesla’s operations in India.

Presence of Elon Musk

It is being speculated that Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, SpaceX and owner of X will be present at the inaugural showroom launch of Tesla, with possible announcements about Tesla’s future plans in India, including local assembly or manufacturing.

He will most likely introduce Tesla’s charging infrastructure strategy for the Indian market. With Tesla’s entry, the Indian EV market is set to witness a new wave of excitement. Stay tuned for updates as the July 15 launch date approaches!
