Triumph Speed 400 T4 Price Drop: Triumph Motorcycles has slashed the prices of the Speed 400 and the Speed T4 ahead of Diwali. Despite being above 350cc models attracting a flat 40 per cent GST, the Triumph Speed 400 and the Speed T4 have now become cheaper by up to Rs 16,797, reflecting Triumph-Bajaj Auto's move to absorb the GST impact rather than passing it on to the customers. With the recent price reduction, the Speed 400 is now available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.34 lakh, while the Speed T4 now carries a price tag of Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom).

Triumph Speed 400, Speed T4: Engine
According to Triumph, the Speed line-up has been the fastest-growing in the 400cc portfolio, with monthly sales nearly doubling through FY2023-24. The Speed 400 currently uses a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist clutch. On the other hand, the T4 draws power from a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which is tuned to produce 30.6bhp at 7,000rpm and 36Nm at 5,000rpm.

Market reports suggest that Triumph is working on a scaled-down version of its 399cc engine, which will have a smaller bore, enough to fit in just under the 350cc category. This is thanks to a 40 per cent GST on two-wheelers above 350cc, effective from September 22. The new engine is expected to be offered across the Triumph 400 line-up, including the Speed 400, Speed T4, and the Scrambler 400 X.
