TVS Apache RTX 300 ADV: TVS Motor Company has officially entered the adventure tourer segment with its first in-house RTX bike, which competes against well-known names in the space, such as the KTM 250 Adventure and the Yezdi Adventure. We have pitted the TVS Apache RTX against the KTM 250 Adventure, which is closer in terms of engine output, features, weight, and other parameters.
TVS Apache RTX Vs KTM 250 Adventure: Price
TVS offers its Apache RTX in three variants – Base, Top, and BTO (Build To Order), priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 2.14 lakh, and Rs 2.29 lakh, respectively (all prices are introductory, ex-showroom). On the other hand, the KTM 250 Adventure carries a price tag of Rs 2.40 lakh (Ex-showroom), making it Rs 11,000 more costly than the TVS Apache RTX's range-topping BTO variant.
TVS Apache RTX Vs KTM 250 Adventure: Engine
The Apache RTX debuts the brand's all-new 299cc RTX-D4 engine, unveiled at last year's TVS MotoSoul. With dual overhead cams, twin oil pumps, a dual breather system, and dual-cooling jackets (water-cooled for the head and air/oil-cooled for crankcases), the RTX-D4 engine delivers 35.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 28.5Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm.
This makes TVS' adventure tourer more powerful than the KTM 250 Adventure, which draws power from the same 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the KTM 250 Duke. The 249cc engine makes 31bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm at 7,250rpm.

TVS Apache RTX Vs KTM 250 Adventure: Suspension, Braking
Both bikes feature upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, but the Apache RTX has an edge here, with an adjustable suspension setup. This setup, however, is exclusive to the BTO variant. The braking hardware is also the same on both bikes – 320mm front disc and 240mm rear disc. Disc brakes are mounted on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels.
TVS Apache RTX Vs KTM 250 Adventure: Features, Electronics
Along with adjustable suspension, the Apache RTX also offers a tyre pressure monitor, as a segment-first feature. The RTX gets 4 ride modes (Urban, Rain, Tour, Rally) as standard, whereas the 250 Adventure offers Street and off-road ABS modes. The RTX additionally comes with cruise control, switchable ABS, and multi-level traction control.
Both the TVS Apache RTX and the KTM 250 Adventure come with a 6-speed gearbox, a bidirectional quickshifter, a slip-and-assist clutch, ride-by-wire, and a TFT display. The Apache RTX has borrowed its TFT display from the Ntorq 150, whereas the 250 Adventure gets the same display as the bigger 390 Adventure.
