Upcoming Diesel Cars In India In 2024: Diesel cars are becoming less common due to strict emission standards and increased costs. However, some buyers still prefer diesel powered cars over petrol engine cars, especially in India. Despite several diesel models being phased out recently, there is still a demand for powerful diesel cars that deliver both good performance and fuel efficiency. The Indian automotive market is expected to see the introduction of several diesel-powered models in 2024. Let's take a closer look at some of the upcoming diesel cars set to be launched in India this year.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door
Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to be launched in the Indian market in August 2024. The 5-door Thar is expected to retain the same engine configuration as the current 3-door Thar. Along with the petrol engine, it will be available with the option of a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine generates 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque.
Tata Curvv
Tata Curvv is a coupe SUV that is highly awaited in the SUV segment of the car market in India. There has been no confirmation regarding the specific launch timeline of the Tata Curvv, however, it is expected to be launched by August 2024. The diesel variant of the Tata Curvv is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This diesel engine produces a power output of 115 bhp and 260 Nm of torque and is expected to be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT.
Kia Carnival Facelift
Kia revealed the new-gen Carnival for international markets last year. The Kia Carnival facelift has been spotted testing in India several times, indicating its imminent launch. For global markets, the new-gen Kia Carnival was introduced with three engine options - a 3.5-litre petrol engine, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine and a new 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a hybrid powertrain. The India-spec Carnival facelift is expected to be powered by the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine that is capable of producing a power output of 200 bhp and 440 Nm of torque.
Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
Hyundai Alcazar facelift was scheduled to be launched in the Indian market by mid 2024. However, its Indian debut has been delayed and is now expected to hit the market around September to October 2024. The Alcazar facelift will be available with two engine options - a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine is capable of producing a power output of 116 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
